CCHRInt- Nonprofit mental health
watchdog group that is responsible for over
150 laws protecting people from harmful
psychological and psychiatric practices.
This was originally funded by the Church of
Scientology, and I am in no way affiliated
with either CCHR or the Church of Scientology.
I have yet to see any CCHR publications,
videos or other material that has not been well
documented and supported by peer review data.
It is a shame CCHR is so discredited because of
their past (or current) affiliation with
Scientology. I have never been trained,
practiced, visited or had any formal or informal
contact with the Church of Scientology. It
is sad I must make such a statement, but within
days of acknowledging their contribution to the
field of psychiatry and psychology I have had
people emailing me asking me questions about
this. I hope this clarifies that my
professional work is based upon professional
peer reviewed research and ethical standards of
care.

Dante’s Cure offers a story of courage and hope. It reveals how madness is
inherent to the human condition and therefore ought to be treated as such. To
restore patients’ trust in their power to recover, rather than robbing them of
their agency in the name of medical knowledge, is the true moral of this
remarkable journey out of madness.

Surviving America’s Depression Epidemic delves into the roots
of depression and links our increasingly consumer-based culture and
standard-practice psychiatric treatments to worsening depression,
instead of solving it. In an easy-to-understand narrative style, Dr.
Levine prescribes antidotes to depression including the keys to building
morale and selfhealing. Unlike short-term, drug-based solutions, these
antidotes foster a long-term cycle where people rediscover passion and
purpose, and find meaning in acting on their societal concerns.

On this site you can read some of the latest writings about depression, ADHD and anxiety, looking beyond prescription drugs for their answers. You will also find some helpful do’s and don’ts for when depression hits. I would not endorse the exact statement though that "Depression is a choice", literally.
